Neutral Buoyancy EVA Training

  • Neutral Buoyancy - a state where an object is suspended in a water, neither sinking nor floating.
  • NBL - Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory - an underwater training facility for astronauts.
  • EVA - Extravehicular Activity - a spacewalk.
  • Astronauts train EVA in the NBL using Neutral Buoyancy to simulate the microgravity of space.
  • NBL is a large pool filled with water and space station mockup.
  • In the NBL astronauts practice procedures, movement, tools and tasks while wearing spacesuits.
  • Neutral buoyancy can simulate the sensation of weightlessness experienced in space.
  • You can participate regardless of your nationality, background or experience!
